About Dawn

My journey has been one of resilience and dedication to public service. I earned my stripes working in a congressional office, public housing, workforce development, YMCA Urban Youth Services, and education reform. However, it's my personal story that is a testament to who I am and why I do what I do.

I was once a homeless single mother who escaped a troublesome marriage and moved back to South Bend from Chicago with my four children and the clothes on our backs. I persevered through the challenges of being a single mother and domestic abuse survivor, relying on my faith, resilience, and the compassion of others. My personal experiences drove me to dedicate my life to standing in the gap for the underserved and being a catalyst for public policy that serves them better.

Despite the obstacles in my life, I never gave up. I continued to pursue my education and I'm now on the verge of completing my Doctorate of Business Administration. My personal experience and professional expertise have made me a champion for the underserved in the community. I am dedicated to using my knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in the lives of those around me. I hope to be an inspiration to all who know me and a true asset to my community.
